Now there’s a new feature: BUILD back lids to create a closed cabinet. You might already be familiar with our front lids, which dress up any BUILD installation in 11 snappy earth- and jewel-tones. Color-fast thanks to their material – minimum 60% post-consumer PET fiber from recycled PET bottles – and manufacturing process (the fibers are compressed and heat-bonded, eliminating the need for glue or any additives), these simple add-ons will add a lifetime of vibrancy and utility.
We can easily imagine a freestanding BUILD room divider shared between a couple or office mates. In this scenario, some BUILD modules have vivid front lids that serve as art for one user and as a backer for the opposite user’s shelf. The opposite user can then install back lids to serve the same purpose. The net effect is an alternating open- and closed-shelf configuration in your choice of hue. All in all, an efficient and decorative way to share a shelf and partition a room.

Open Storage vs Closed Storage: with BUILD you are flexible
Wondering whether to opt for open shelves or cabinets for your office or living room? Having an open shelving makes it important for you to stay organized with your visual display. Having a closed or partially closed shelving, room divider or bookcase will offer some privacy, allowing you to maintain a little clutter away from prying eyes. BUILD back lids have the added advantage of covering the unit’s back side, which some people find not as aesthetic as the front, due to the mounting system. You might choose to have a BUILD room partition with a complete series of back lids, in the same color or in a creative array, offering secure storage for the open front end.
Our acoustic lids and inlay panels can also be used as pinboards, making them ideal for creative teams.
Acoustic furniture
All building materials have certain acoustic properties, as they either absorb, reflect or transmit sound in the room. The acoustic performance depends mainly on the structure of the material. The more open the structure, the more powerful it is. The felt-like constellation of our MOVISI SONIC material, unlike hard materials such as wood or glass, allows it to absorb as many sound waves as possible.
Our material has the fire classification B- s1,d0 according to DIN EN 13501-1.
The acoustic shelving lids are made from recycled PET bottles and are available in 16 colors.

Our front and back lids are made with MOVISI SONIC, a special material that not only has acoustic properties, it’s LEED and Cradle to Cradle certified for judicious use of materials and resources. MOVISI SONIC is currently being evaluated for reentry in the reuse cycle as sturdy construction material.

Eye-catching BUILD lids come with pre-mounted magnets. The lids simply snap onto the BUILD shelving units. No need for additional hardware.
Long lasting Cradle to cradle furniture
The colors you choose are here to stay, not subject to fading. MOVISI has enlisted a particularly Earth savvy partner for this SONIC material: LEED and Cradle to Cradle certified, SONIC is being studied for reuse as building components. This is in line with our principle of sustaining resources, for the same reason we adhere to social fairness in our workplace and production: We believe in people coming together to live fulfilled lives on a safer planet.
